The ironically-titled 'Frequently Asked Questions'

* Who the hell are you?

Mark Dowling, a trainee sub-editor for a chain of local newspapers in the Cheshire and North Wales region. That's practically all you need to know. I like Hawaiian pizza, if that helps.

* What is this website all about?

It's simply a collection of my work from the past decade or so I've deemed fit is suitable for public consumption. You will also find work by (hopefully) credited authors, the standard of which is annoyingly superior.

* What's this Cornelius malarkey then?

It's basically my attempt at the webcomic world, by entering into an already-vastly overcrowded market for such a thing, but I pride myself on mine being nothing to do with inane science fiction, not overly geeky, not totally in-jokey, no characters dressed up in fur for perverse pleasurement and funnier than a Fred Basset annual. It's a sporadically-updated cartoon that doesn't try to be too surreal but at least makes an effort to offer a punchline at the end of every set of panels. It's still very much in its infancy and has already evolved so the characters don't look so wibbly and mildly psychotic.

* What is that stange scribble in the top-right of every page?

That's a mad owl, abstractly drawn so that it includes the initials 'M' and 'D'. Mad Owl, of course, contains the first half of my first and last names ('Ma Dowl'). Which is the feeble explanation for why I've called this website that. I have little to no interest in owls, mad or otherwise, although I did receive correspondence once from some pleasant Dutch people thinking I had.

* What screen resolution is best for this website?

Ideally as hi-def as you can- some of those A4 cartoons will involve a lot of scrolling otherwise. In line with an increasing number of websites across the information superhighway, at least 1024x768 would be nice and homely, but the more condensed the better. I'd also recommend using the Firefox browser. Nothing to do with this website, it's just a lot better than Internet Explorer's clunky interface.
